Editorial

Dear reader,

this is number eight of the Journal of the International Circle, and it is the last one I had the honour and the pleasure to edit. As you may have heard from other sources, I will retire from my university position and from both the offices as the chairman of the IC and as the editor of this journal by summer 2016. While the new chairman of the IC will be elected at the 48th Annual Conference of the IC at Leipzig, Saxony, the next editor of this journal has already been found.
I’m delighted that Professor Dr. Martin Habekost from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, agreed to take over this fulfilling though sometimes laborious job. Martin is a Canadian with German roots, or a German who now lives in Canada, and I’m convinced that his understanding for the cultures on both sides of the Atlantic makes him the ideal person for this really international task. Martin introduces himself in the column to the right of this one.
So I can only say thank you to all of you, the authors, without whom a journal cannot exist, the reviewers who fulfilled their roles as the critical friends of the authors enthusiastically, and not at least to you, our readers. A journal without readers is a rather ridiculous thing.
I only can encourage you to transfer the trust you placed in me to Martin. Continue to hand in your latest scientific discoveries, your technical developments, your findings on the economics of our business, and, last not least, your suggestions how to introduce these into our teaching. For your comments and opinions on the contents of the journal, the forum section is the right place.
Wolfgang Faigle

Dear reader,

you might have heard that Wolfgang Faigle is stepping down from his duties as president of the IC and also as editor of the IC circular. This will happen at the upcoming IC conference in May in Leipzig, Germany.
I met Wolfgang Faigle in 2008 for the first time, when a group professors from Ryerson University visited the Hochschule der Medien ahead of Drupa 2008. Since
then the School of Graphic Communications Management has sent a number of students on exchange to Stuttgart and we hosted students and professors on exchange at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada.
I am sure you would like to know also a little bit about me, the new editor of the IC circular. I graduated from the University of Hannover, Germany with a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry in 1995. Shortly after my graduation I started to work for an ink manufacturer in Germany and after 1.5 years moved to Canada to work at the branch location of that company in the Toronto area. After almost 8.5 years in the ink industry I joined Ryerson University and the School of Graphic Communications Management. This took place in 2005.
I have been a reviewer for the IC Circular and got interested in the work that Wolfgang does as aFn editor. During various phone conversations him and I talked about this work and after some thinking I suggested to be the new editor of the IC Circular. I speak fluent German and English, so you can write your correspondence in German to me, but the research paper should be in English.
I am looking forward to receive your journal submissions and get them published in the IC Circular.
Martin Habekost
