EGIN «technology changes, design remains»

Technology (from Greek τέχνη, techne, "art, skill, cunning of hand"; and -λογία, -logia) is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, and methods of organization, in order to solve a problem, improve a pre-existing solution to a problem, achieve a goal, handle an applied input/output relation or perform a specific function. It can also refer to the collection of such tools, including machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures. Technologies significantly affect human as well as other animal species' ability to control and adapt to their natural environments.

Design is the creation of a plan or convention for the construction of an object or a system (as in architectural blueprints, engineering drawings, business processes, circuit diagrams and sewing patterns). Design has different connotations in different fields (see design disciplines below). In some cases the direct construction of an object (as in pottery, engineering, management, cowboy coding and graphic design) is also considered to be design.

The EGIN Autumn Seminar will have a special form and content this year. It is linked to an event of EGIN members from Switzerland. They launch new courses in Interactive Media Design in their education. For that occasion a spectacular event will be organised on November 7, 2014, in the form of an Interactive Media Design Conference.

IC Meeting at DRUPA | Better anticipation of future skills. Towards a stronger partnership between education and industry.

Before the big Annual Conference the International Circle offers a second event. We organized a symposium at the fringe of Drupa regarding the relationship between industry and academic schools.

We hope that we found a topic which is appropriate for the Drupa environment and doesn’t compromise the programme of the big conference at Budapest. Luk Bouters from Ghent and Tommie Nyström from Norrkoping compiled a really interesting programme with renowned speakers from numerous countries.

The symposium will take place on 9 May 2012 from 10 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. on the Drupa fairground (Congress Centrum Sued, Congress Centre South, CCS) in Room 01.

The detailed programme can be found here.

Don’t overlook the tasty last position!
