Looking at DRUPA-2008: The new industry convergence and its impact on the future of print media.Section 1:
This research paper in the section one primarily analyses the growth of print industry in the global and regional contest in relation to the global population and its regional distribution. It looks in to the future of print requirements both technological and process related. Further the outlook change in the product focus by the current market trend is discussed. How the percapita paper consumption of a country is related to the print media industry and how it is related to the growth of the countryÂ’s economy. Also takes a peep in to the latest trends seen at DRUPA-2008.

    Section 2:
In this section the theories of industrial convergence proposed by Dr. Nicolas Negroponte, Director of the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT),USA, in the early 1980Â’s is discussed to understand how the industry convergence theories are related to the technology innovation and further development. Later the new convergence theory proposed by Prof. Christopher Barnett an Associate Professor in Computing & Organizations at Nottingham University Business School is discussed since Prof. Barnett suggests 3 MÂ’s are going to converge namely Media, Medicine and Manufacturing.
The main purpose of this research is to find out how this 3MÂ’s convergence theory is related to our media industry and how this is going to happen? This section provides an answer to the above question.

    Section 3:
This section project a technology trend line to the future and proposes best transition methodologies. It also suggests how the printer should equip himself for this transition? How the new applications are going to take place? How to face this situation and become successful? Then the findings and the concluding remarks are given which reinstates the very existence of printing and its increased importance in the future days.
